Ever wanted to learn how to stitch hitomezashi (one stitch) sashiko patterns? These new coaster kits have been developed so you can learn hitomezashi patterns the easy way. Each kit has a simpler pattern to start with, and a slightly more challenging one for the second coaster. This kit (first photo) has the traditional ‘igeta’ (well curb) pattern as your easy introduction, and the ‘komezashi’ (rice stitch) pattern as your second design.

The pattern is pre-printed by hand onto cotton sarashi cloth by Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., so you don’t have to mark anything out. Sarashi is an easy to stitch traditional Japanese cotton cloth, often used for items like Hanafukin cloths as well as kimono underwear! It is super absorbent and wears well. Marks wash out.

Kit contains – printed sarashi cotton cloth, Sashiko thread, needle, and instructions.

Four different pairs of coasters to collect and stitch.

Designed and made by Olympus Thread Mfg. Co. in Japan.

100% cotton.
