Want to try sashiko but are feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the different patterns and styles?
'Learn how to do the technique of sashiko with these 8 simple sashiko sewing projects. Traditional Japanese sewing technique, sashiko, is currently a major sewing trend in craft, interiors and fashion. Big stitches are used to create stunning, geometric patterns and texture to make home wares with a stylish, Japanese minimalist look. This collection, featuring content previously published in The Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook and Japanese Sashiko Inspirations, includes 8 patterns for home decor so you can try this traditional technique for yourself. Choose from 8 easy projects including coasters, cushions, wall hangings, bag and greetings cards.' (publisher's blurb!)
When we planned this book, I revisited the instructions for each project and rewrote them in an even easier to understand way. There is a complete 'getting started' section to guide you through all the techniques you need. The book was designed for the complete beginner who might want to give sashiko a try, but isn't quite sure where to start.
NB - this book covers the larger geometric patterns or moyouzashi. It does not include the smaller hitomezashi (one stitch) sashiko patterns. If you want to try hitomezashi for the first time, I have some great pre printed panels to make it really easy!
Each book will be signed by Susan, with the special message 'ganbatte kudasai' - which means 'work hard' in Japanese.
