Japanese taupe wovens! A 35 x 50cm (13 3/4 x 19 5/8in) precut of Sakizome Momen - a thicker cotton fabric from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., excellent for sashiko, patchwork, bag making and other projects. It is made to look like old cloth, with subtle colours (the range is inspired by 'forests, herbs, flowers and earth' colours), and feels like a soft, handwoven cotton. #SC054 is a 'linen look' effect fabric (but 100% cotton), perfect for taupe projects. 'Forests, herbs, flowers, earth colours' are the inspirations for these natural shades. Easy to stitch for sashiko, with a texture similar to the plain Azumino cotton range, but slightly stiffer.
The weave is loose enough to easily stitch sashiko with fine, medium or thick sashiko threads. Ideal for taupe projects, wearables, boro style patchwork, or any project where an antique look is desired. It is the ideal cotton coordinate for Olympus kogin 20 count natural linen.
It is already available by the half metre, shade OL100N. It is also available as a whole 5m bolt, by special order (please allow approx. working 10 days for delivery, as the bolt will be ordered for you from Japan). The price per metre is £20, and for whole bolt special orders, there is a discount of 10%. Please email me if you require a larger piece of this fabric.
35 x 50cm (13 3/4 x 19 5/8in) - this size is similar to 50cm or half a metre of our narrow width Japanese fabrics.
100% cotton
Made in Japan by Olympus Thread Mfg. Co.
NB - The 35 x 50cm (13 3/4 x 19 5/8in) precut size is smaller than a 'fat quarter' size (50cm x half bolt width). The fabric is cut and packed in Japan to this standard size. The code number in the title is the Olympus Thread Mfg. Co. stock number for this precut. The pack labels refer to this number rather than the main shade number.

Zigzag or overlock the edges before stitching sashiko, as this fabric will fray more than regular patchwork cottons.
