Great value, ramie cotton linen-handle is a versatile and durable and far cheaper alternative to 100% linen fabrics - it has the look, but a softer drape. Because of its strength and breathability, it can be used as both a utility and a faux-luxury fabric in the home. This classic denim blue colourway is a great substitute for natural indigo shades. Recently, this fabric has become more commonly used for clothing and a variety of household items, such as handkerchiefs, tablecloths and bedding. It is strong, durable and lightweight, with a beautiful drape. Ideal for a clothing or household textiles with sashiko, or for including in boro inspired projects (the perfect use for any dressmaking scraps!) It would make a great furoshiki (wrapping cloth) fabric too, and the wide 138cm (53in) width means 1.5m would be perfect for a large furoshiki.
I chose this fabric because I was looking for a great value natural style fabric for contemporary sashiko pieces. I think you will love it too.
I also have this fabric in teal blue, navy blue, chartreuse green, and dark red (second to fifth photos).
This fabric is sold by the HALF METRE, and will be sent as one continuous piece.
NB - exact colour matches between rolls of fabric cannot be guaranteed, so please it enough for your project in one go.
