Due in this week...

This listing is for the funky retro 'Stripe' (first photo) a directional print from this colourful new range by Sue Penn for FreeSpirit. Other prints from this range are shown in the other photos. Like the other Sue Penn fabrics I stock, this would coordinate across several ranges.

FreeSpirit introduce this collection as follows -
'Get ready to light up your projects with Skylights by the talented artist and FreeSpirit designer @suepenndesigns! A small-town girl with a love for big city lights, Sue drew inspiration from towering buildings set against a glittering night sky for this breathtaking fabric collection. The signature starry night piece captures the magic of clear, sparkling evenings, while the vibrant cityscapes, with each window made from hand-printed papers, bring an enchanting urban touch to your quilts and sewing projects.'

I love them because they remind me of traveling through the bright cityscapes of Tokyo and other Japanese cities.

Printed on patchwork weight cotton, these fabrics would make rich coordinates for some of  my sashiko panels, and the colours can be matched from my extensive range of sashiko threads - or you could go for the full rainbow 100m #301 medium sashiko thread. Free Spirit fabrics are printed on a 68 count cotton rather than the 60 count used for many other brands, meaning they are slightly finer than many patchwork fabrics and are also suitable for making clothing.

108cm (43in) wide.

100% cotton

NB - sold by the half metre, so order '2' for 1 metre, '3' for 1.5m etc.

  • My Good Gracious collection was named because of both the exclamation at the sight of beauty and for a little play on words after having such “good” and “gracious” experiences in the UK during the summer of 2022. The fabric designs were almost exclusively inspired by the sketches and photographs made as I traveled from Northern Scotland to Southeast England with my fiancé (now husband). A walk in the New Forest and a magical interlude with a herd of wild horses is a pictorial detailing of unforgettable moments. A guided tour of my new sister-in-law Beata’s home garden was a moment of graciousness and welcoming that I will never forget. Castle views, long walks, graceful swans, village escapades, wildflower explorations, and a Fair Isle sweater souvenir all floated to the top of my cherished memories of this beautiful chapter in my life.
