'Garden Bed' by Rachel Hauer for FreeSpirit fabrics features the inhabitants of our gardens, both flora and fauna, in a range of lush designs.
This listing is for 'Fireflies' (first photo), with glowing insects scattered on a teal blue background. Fireflies are rare in England and Wales, absent in Scotland, but seen in many other countries in summer, including Japan. Other prints from this range are shown in the other photos.
Printed on patchwork weight cotton, these fabrics would make cute coordinates for some of my sashiko panels, and the colours can be matched from my extensive range of sashiko threads. Free Spirit fabrics are printed on a 68 count cotton rather than the 60 count used for many other brands, meaning they are slightly finer than many patchwork fabrics and are also suitable for making clothing.
Rachel Hauer writes this about her collection - 'To me, my garden is a place of peace and relaxation. I love how it encourages an active relationship with nature, even when the deer eat my tulips! Being part of the little ecosystem that is my garden makes me feel connected and well grounded! I hope that Garden Bed brings you joy, makes you laugh, and brings you a little closer to all the little pollinators.'
Storage space constraints meant I couldn't get the whole range, so I have chosen my favourites for you.
