This stunning design of scattered sakura cherry blossoms in cool blues on a cream background feels like spring has come early! Printed on a slightly textured dobby weave. Perfect for adding that authentic touch to your Japanese themed project.
Shiga refers to Shiga prefecture, north of Kyoto, which is famous for its sakura cherry blossoms. Sakura symbolise beauty but also the transience of life, especially in samurai culture, because the blossoms last such a short time. So although it is a floral design, sakura are appropriate at a man's motif too.
I used a lot of these kinds of prints in my books 'Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match' and 'Japanese Quilt Inspirations', and they aren't so easy to find at the moment, so I'm always pleased when I spot another design I love.
