Immerse yourself in traditional Japanese colour combinations! This pack of five colour coordinateted 6-ply medium mercerised sashiko thread 40m cards is called amaoto (sound of rain). Colours are shades extra dark indigo blue, indigo blue, lapis lazuli blue,  peacock blue, and light blue. The same colour pack is available as 4-ply fine sashiko threads to vary the thread thickness in your sashiko project - the pack saves 50p on buying the threads one by one. 

These threads are Daruma brand by Yokota. Suitable for all your sashiko and boro stitching.  Use doubled for a really bold sashiko effect. Also excellent for big stitch quilting.
 
This carded mercerised thread is the same weight as the 100m  and 40m 6- ply Yokota Daruma sashiko thread skeins. The colours are the same as the 4-ply fine 40m and 170m ranges, and the thickness is the same as the Olympus 100m mercerised sashiko thread. By selecting between these different ranges, you can make many subtle colour combinations in the same thread thickness and have an incredible range of colours for your sashiko creations.

Because it is mercerised, it won't 'shred' or go slightly fluffy when stitching. While it is convenient to have a thread ready to use on a card and you can easily cut the length you need, it will be slightly 'kinked' from storage, so just smooth down each thread as it is cut, before starting to stitch..
