A fabulous new Japanese-themed collection from In The Beginning fabrics, which I just had to get!

Jason Yenter's 'Oriental Gardens' collection is full of digitally printed jewel-like colours, so you get all the depth and variation of colour like a batik, but on a fabric base that isn't too tightly woven for hand quilting. This is a bold rust design of spider chrysanthemums against an amazing clamshell background, with each shell filled with a traditional Japanese geometric pattern (first photo), and is available in turquoise blue and purple too. It would be great for clothing as well as patchwork, or to go with a sashiko panel.

I preordered this range, so we wouldn't miss out! The saturated colours coordinate very well with other Jason Yenter fabrics, and I want to combine these prints with some of the other In The Beginning ranges.

Available as fat quarters, half metres or metres. Fabric will be supplied as a continuous piece whenever possible.

I will be making up some fat quarter bundles too.
