Medium mercerised sashiko thread 100m skein, shade #303 'emakimono' or picture scroll (first photo)- dyed with 6 subtle colours! One of four new rainbow colours. Suitable for all your sashiko and boro stitching. May be used double or singly.
The manufacturer says - 'This color is inspired by "emakimono'' (e =picture, + maki = roll, + mono =thing), one of the ancient Japanese paintings that depict scenes and stories in succession on long pieces of paper. When you embroider a pattern like a picture, you can feel the rich colors of paper that has aged over time.'
Please note - this mercerised thread feels slightly smoother and thinner than the non-mercerised 20m sashiko thread. It is less likely to 'shred' or go slightly fluffy when stitching.
Ideal for my printed sashiko panels.

#303 Emakimono picture scroll 100m medium sashiko thread
Sashiko threads skeins have to be opened out before use. Slide of the skein band first. You will find all the thread is tied together at one point. Cut through the skein at the knot, so all the threads are cut (you'll find these are the ideal length for stitching doubled). Push all the thread through the skein band, and then plait the thread loosely. Pull out each thread as you need it from the loop end of the plait, not the 'fringed' end. This saves time trying to wind the thread into a ball, keeps it tidy and you know the thread shade number if you need to re order.
