This 100% cotton shot cotton in a mustard yellow is a great alternative to Kofu Tsumugi if you are looking for a medium to light weight fabric for that can be used for detailed patchwork as well as sashiko. Unlike Kofu Tsumugi, this is a smooth fabric, without the slubs that characterise tsumugi fabrics. Ideal for patchwork, wearables, boro inspired work, bag linings, lightweight home textiles, etc. - this is a versatile fabric. Beautiful as a coordinate for printed sashiko panels too, for which I recommend choosing a contrasting colour rather than trying to colour match. This listing is for the mustard yellow colourway.

If you would like to order 5m of this fabric for stitching my Sashiko 365 sampler quilt, please send me an email. I should be able to do a special order for you and get the fabric in one piece.

For sashiko, I recommend medium or fine sashiko threads with this fabric, and the slightly smaller/finer needles in the Clover 8 needle pack (also in Japanese packaging) or Lecien needle packs.

110cm (43in) wide (approx).

100% cottonMade in Japan

This is not natural indigo and the colour should not run, but I would still recommend washing finished items with a colour catcher or dye grabber, just to be extra careful.NB - sold by the half metre, so order '2' for 1 metre, '3' for 1.5m etc.
