Azumino cotton from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co. is a solid dyed cotton with a subtle texture. It is quite thick and soft - an ideal fabric for sashiko. I used it to make all the sashiko stitch samples for The Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook, as well as many of the projects, and the sampler quilt opposite the title page, plus projects in my other sashiko books. Azumino cotton looks like the traditional hand woven cotton that was produced at home in Japan, and looks beautiful included in boro inspired projects.
